All bus routes cut, some gone, for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve

 

 

 

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati Metro will be operating on a holiday schedule for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.  That will cut out at least one route in this neighborhood.

That may not matter to most workers, who will have the Fridays off, but it could force a serious change in plans for shoppers and retail workers.

A holiday schedule is the same as the Sunday schedule.

Black Friday shopping in Over-the-Rhine

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Over-the-Rhine is the place to be this week! Final Friday is on Wednesday, the 24th! The shops and galleries will have food and drinks, luminaries will light the way and Segway Santa and Cycling Santa will be out Wednesday night.

Then on Black Friday, shoppers can avoid the crush of the malls by shopping Over-the-Rhine for unique, local gifts in a relaxed atmosphere on Black Friday. OTR is holding its third Holidays in the Bag event this Friday, November 26th. Shopping bags can be purchased for $3 with the proceeds going to the non-profit Friends of the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). With the purchase of the bag, shoppers will receive discounts at more than 20 locations in OTR.

The OTR Holiday Pop Up Shop will also open on Friday.

Local businesses form the OTR Pop Up Shop

OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19) - 3CDC and the Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce announced that the first locally-focused pop-up shop in Cincinnati will open on November 26 at 1213 Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine. Six local businesses – Powerhouse Factories, Nati Evolvement Clothing Co., Chocolats Latour, Studio Vertu, Artfully Disheveled, and Green Bird – will have their products for sale in the OTR Holiday Pop Up shop for nine days over four weekends through December 19.

Cincinnati joins cities around the country, like New York, Los Angeles and Portland, where short-term pop-up shops are appearing to benefit from the high foot traffic during the holidays. Pop-up shops have grown in popularity around the country as brief occupants of unused retail space.

Park + Vine grand re-opening benefits ARTworks

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The grand re-opening of Park + Vine will double as a fundraising event for ARTworks Cincinnati. The celebration of Park + Vine's new location is Friday, October 29 from 6:00-10:00p.m. at 1202 Main Street. The evening includes food from local vegan-friendly spots, music by Josh Eagle and Liz Bowater, and guest baristas demonstrating Park + Vine’s Hario coffee drip machine.

Park + Vine artist favorite Angie Unger will unveil paintings and chandeliers using re-purposed materials from Zero-Landfill Cincinnati Project. Five percent of  sales made at this event will go to ARTworks Cincinnati.

Hamilton County Police to conduct vehicle auction

HAMILTON COUNTY (FOX19) – Hamilton County Sheriff Simon L. Leis, Jr., will conduct a public auction on Saturday, October 16, 2010, to dispose of 28 vehicles, all of which have been declared forfeited or abandoned. The auction will be conducted at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Patrol Headquarters, 11021 Hamilton Avenue, in northern Hamilton County (approximately one block south of I-275 on Hamilton Avenue).

The vehicles to be auctioned range from 1962 to 2006 models inclusive of numerous domestic and foreign manufacturers, and include sedans, a van,  SUV's, a motorcycle and an ATV. The auction will start at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Vehicles may be viewed from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on the date of the auction.

Bidder numbers are required for all persons desiring to bid on any vehicle.
