Jason Dunn joins SORTA Board of Trustees

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Jason Dunn, director of multicultural affairs and community development for the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau, was named to the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority’s board of trustees on Jan. 17.

Dunn develops and manages the CVB’s comprehensive multicultural strategy, working to more deeply engage the local community, region-wide partners, and the CVB sales team to provide support in analyzing and pursuing new business opportunities.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Dunn started his career at the Cincinnati USA CVB in September 2004.

Cincinnati State nominates two for All-USA Academic Team honors

 

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Two adult students who returned to college to prepare themselves for new careers will represent Cincinnati State this year in the All-USA Community College Academic Team event.

The annual event recognizes not only academic achievement but also community service, leadership and perseverance in pursuit of a goal. The event is open to community colleges across the United States; each institution is permitted to nominate two candidates.

CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) - Stanislava Kantcheva, an accounting instructor in the Business Technologies Division at Cincinnati State, recently earned her Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation from the Board of Regents of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants.

Ms. Kantcheva, a resident of Fort Wright, Ky., has already earned her CPA designation. The CMA is a further indication of her personal abilities in the field of management accounting.

Accountants who earn the CMA have displayed proficiency in many facets of accounting and financial management.

The organizations are coordinating on events where knowledgeable, professional volunteers will help students and their families complete AND submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the single most important application required for most scholarships, grants, loans and federal assistance. All of the events are FREE.

DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI AND GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Christ Hospital is pleased to announce Elizabeth Ruchhoft-Kissinger, M.D., gynecologist, has joined the hospital’s group of employed physicians. Her practice, The Christ Hospital Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates – Downtown Cincinnati, is located at 312 Walnut Street, Suite 1160 in downtown Cincinnati. She will begin seeing patients there Monday, Jan. 16 and will also be seeing patients in The Christ Hospital Outpatient Center in Green Township later in 2012.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - On January 11, 2012, one of Cincinnati’s heroes, Judge William A. McClain, celebrates his 99” birthday. 

Judge McClain’s career was marked by a series of firsts. Both as a lawyer and citizen. In 2003, he was honored as a great living Cincinnatian.

Judge McClain lost his wife, Roberta "Bert" (White) McClain, just last January. The Judge practiced law with the Manley Burke firm for more than 20 years before his retirement a few years ago. He still maintains an office at the firm.

William A. McClain was born on January 11, 1913 in Sandford, North Carolina. He attended Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio), graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1934. In 1937, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He has been a member of the Bar of Ohio for about 74 years (1938-2012).

"Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" keyboardist and industrial engineer Bob Armstrong dies

 

MILFORD, OH (FOX19) - On Tuesday afternoon, December 27, 2011, Thomas Robert "Bob" Armstrong died peacefully at his Milford home at age 67.  Armstrong was the keyboardist for 1960's rock group The Casinos, then became an industrial engineer.

Bob Armstrong, also known as T-Bob, was born on May 12, 1944 and lived around the Cincinnati area all his life.  In his early days Armstrong was a musician and played the Hammond B3 organ.  One of his highlights was playing for The Casinos, who traveled and opened with The Beach Boys in the late 1960’s.  He also received a Gold Record with The Casinos for the song “Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye.”
