Joe Morgan exhibit opening Tuesday at Reds Hall of Fame Museum

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Reds Hall of Fame Musuem will highlight and honor the career of Joe Morgan wiith a new exhibit.

The exhibit opens to the public on Tuesday, March 12 at 10am.

This special exhibit will feature game-used equipment, rare photographs, memorabilia and never-before-seen items from Joe’s personal collection, the exhibit shines a light on the player who many historians consider to be the best second baseman in the history of the game.

The Joe Morgan exhibit is part of a season-long celebration of Joe’s great career that culminates with the dedication of the Joe Morgan Statue on Saturday, Sept. 7, prior to the 1:05 pm Reds vs. L.A. Dodgers game.

Joe’s statue will be located in front of Great American Ball Park on Crosley Terrace and is being sculpted by local artist Tom Tsuchiya, who designed the five sculptures that currently reside at the ballpark: Johnny Bench, Ted Kluszewski, Ernie Lombardi, Joe Nuxhall and Frank Robinson.

DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Marvin Lewis Coach of the Year Award presented by Baker Concrete was presented to Head Football Coach Curtis Enis of the Bradford High School Railroaders on Thursday, February 28, at The Westin in Downtown Cincinnati during the annual Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athletes Banquet.

Coach Enis focuses on teaching young men life lessons that will go much further than football.  He teaches his players the values of work ethic, support, determination, pride, heart, effort, attitude, family and, most importantly, they are students first and athletes second.

This award is presented to the top High School football coach in the Tri-State area. The winner of the Coach of the Year Award is chosen based on their teaching skills, sportsmanship, dedication to players, and commitment to education and his community.

MOUNT AUBURN, OH (FOX19) - The Christ Hospital Health Network Board of Directors has appointed Mike Keating as its President and CEO effective immediately. Keating, a respected business and civic leader, has been a member of The Christ Hospital Board for over 21 years, previously chaired the Board for five years and has been serving as its President and CEO since Susan Croushore stepped down from the position last September.

            “During his time on the Board, Mike has distinguished himself for driving alignment with our physicians and being a strategic thinker in an evolving healthcare industry,” said George Vincent, Board Chairman. He added, “Mike understands the organization, its mission and values. And, as a life-long resident of Cincinnati, he understands the community.”

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -The Cincinnati Reds organization is hosting a bone marrow registry drive to help save one of their own employees' life.

Chris Herrell, 39, was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) in November of last year. Herrell has worked in the Reds' ticket sales office for 15 years. He has yet to find a bone marrow match in order to save his life. Medical experts say nearly 130,000 Americans were diagnosed with serious blood diseases in 2012. Many are like Chris and need a bone marrow transplant in order to live.

Gateway Appoints Schutzman Dean of Workforce Solutions

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) – Carissa Schutzman of Villa Hills, Ky., was recently named dean of Workforce Solutions at Gateway Community and Technical College, according to Angie Taylor, Gateway vice president of Workforce Solutions and innovations.

In this role, Schutzman is responsible for collaborating with Gateway’s business, industry, and secondary education partners to develop programs and services designed to spur workforce development and preparation. A major part of her role involves creating initiatives to increase the pool of qualified candidates for manufacturing jobs.

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19)  –  Cynthia Sproehnle, director of the Assessment Center at Gateway Community and Technical College, has been appointed to serve as a director of the National Council Testing Association. Sproehnle was selected by the board to fill an unexpired term that will be completed in September 2015.

“Cindy is well-deserving of this honorable and responsibility,” said Angie Taylor, Gateway vice president of Workforce Solutions and Innovations. The Gateway Assessment Center is part of the Workforce Solutions Division. “Cindy’s leadership has greatly expanded our Assessment Center services, which our workforce partners have come to rely on as a key contributor to their ability to screen, assess and hire the most qualified people.”

Dr. Gregory Stewart to Coordinate Gateway's new Human Services program

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19)  – Dr. Gregory Stewart has joined Gateway Community and Technical College as coordinator of the college’s new Human Services program, according to Susan Chaney, chair of Gateway’s Allied Health Division.

Dr. Stewart is responsible for the day to day operations of the new major that offers an associate in applied science degree in human services.

Upon graduation from the two-year program, students can transfer to a four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field such as social work. By law, Gateway credits can be transferred to any public four-year university in Kentucky and are accepted elsewhere throughout the country.
