CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Between Wednesday's announcement and the frigid temperatures, it's safe to say most people are dreaming about spring and summer evenings at Great American Ball Park.
It's also safe to say the 2015 All-Star Game will have a major economic impact on
the City of Cincinnati. In 2015, the ball park and city will be on display,
bringing millions of dollars worth of business to the area.
In addition, Cincinnati has changed bit since 1988's All-Star Game at Riverfront Stadium.
"This is Cincinnati's time," said Dan Lincoln,
CEO of Cincinnati USA.
It's time to shine and show off all the new development
that has revitalized Cincinnati. As the Reds prepare to host the 2015 Major League
Baseball All-Star Game, the city can expect to see an overwhelming economic
impact.
"They estimate between $80 and $100 million in terms
of direct economic impact," Lincoln added. "That's $80 to $100 million pumped
into this economy."
"From a business standpoint, it's going to be great
all around," agreed Nick Ramsey, manager of The Holy Grail Bar and Grille at
The Banks. "Every business is going to do well. It's going to help the local
economy. This is a win win situation completely."
MLB has already contracted with 12 hotels, and another
hotel is under construction at The Banks. However, the All-Star game is much more than one night.
Over several days, events will take place across
downtown, exposing areas of Cincinnati to tens of thousands of baseball fans.
"It's a great chance, not just for that money for
the four days, but folks can see that we're a world class city," added Robert
Gannaway, manager at Morelein Lager House. "As you come in you can come back
and visit, so hopefully it's just beyond those four days and folks see just how
much fun it is to come down and spend some time."
Cincinnati USA used data from last year's All-Star Game
in Kansas City to estimate how many people, and how much money, might be
generated here in 2015.
