Cincinnati's riverfront project receives national recognition

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Cincinnati's riverfront development has received national recognition.

The American Planning Association gave the development its 2013 'National Planning Excellence Award' for implementation.

The association says Cincinnati's riverfront is an excellent example of a plan brought to reality.

Criteria for the award includes 'long-term success', which is defined by the association as at least three years.

The planning process for Cincinnati's riverfront project first began in 1996.

Officials revealed the project has already brought more than 300 new jobs to the region and $600 million in investments.
