Pumpkin guts, casually tossed, get their revenge on your plumbing

Pumpkin guts, casually tossed, get their revenge on your plumbing

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Downtown-based Roto-Rooter, with regional offices in Northside, says it may seem easy for your kitchen sink disposal unit to take care of the insides of a newly carved pumpkin, but their plumbers will remove gobs of guts from clogged drains before the end of the Halloween season. They say local Roto-Rooter plumbers have become as common a Halloween visitor as trick-or-treaters due to sticky pumpkin pulp and seeds.

Roto-Rooter, which is America's largest provider of plumbing repair and drain cleaning services, says pumpkin pulp should never be put down drains or into garbage disposals.

Health district trying new approach to promote healthy habits

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - On Thursday, October 6, WeTHRIVE! will unveil an interactive marketing piece at 120 East 4th Street in the Mercantile Building in downtown Cincinnati and we'd love for you to be there. The event goes from 11am - 2pm and representatives of Hamilton County Public Health will be available to discuss the project, and the need for an increase in healthier options in our communities.

You'll be encouraged to interact with the display, also known as Digital-Out-Of Home (DOOH) which is divided into two components: on one side there is a quiz where the participant chooses which answer is the healthier option; and on the other side, rich animated graphics are displayed which the participant can interact with.

The purpose of the interactive marketing piece is to highlight four distinct areas: access to healthy food, increased physical activity, access to safe places to play, and access to community gardens. WeTHRIVE!
