The Christ Hospital expanding and leasing property in Mount Auburn

MOUNT AUBURN, OH (FOX19) -  The Christ Hospital is increasing their presence in the community by leasing the property at 237 William Howard Taft, a 152,000 square foot building located on 5.5 acres in the Mt. Auburn. The Christ Hospital will use the space for non-clinical offices and support functions, the details of which will be determined in the coming months. The first employees are anticipated to move into the building in the late Spring/Summer of 2012.

“In order to maximize the space we have at our main hospital campus for expanded patient care services, we realize that many of our non-clinical and support functions could be provided more efficiently at a location separate from the hospital,” says Susan Croushore, President and CEO, The Christ Hospital. “The Taft building is an ideal location for this, as it allows these non-clinical departments to remain right here in the Mt.

Teenage girls raise money for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

READING, OH (FOX19) - Two Mt. Notre Dame students recently made a donation to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at TriHealth’s Good Samaritan Hospital.  As part of their senior project, the girls raised $1,800 for the NICU.

Senior Emma Beyer is choosing between studying nursing at Ball State University or Otterbein College next year and was motivated by her passion for pediatric nursing to help the families and siblings of infants in the NICU at Good Samaritan Hospital.  Working with fellow Mt. Notre Dame senior Alex Crumb, the girls organized a jewelry party with a percentage of the profits going towards the donation. They also raffled of a donated pearl necklace; Emma even donated some of her babysitting income.

The money will be used by the Family Advisory Council to improve the facilities, including buying books and toys that are provided for the siblings of infants in the NICU.

The Christ Hospital taking part in study of major drug

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Christ Hospital is joining Iverson Genetic Diagnostics, Inc. and other major hospital systems nationwide in the WARFARIN Study (Warfarin Adverse Event Reduction for Adults Receiving Genetic Testing at Therapy Initiation) to assess the utility of genetic testing to determine a personalized warfarin dose for individual patients to reduce their risk of serious bleeding or clotting events.

Warfarin is prescribed to two million new patients in the U.S. annually and approximately 20 million Americans use the drug in total. It is used to treat blood clots and/or to prevent new clots from forming. Preventing harmful blood clots helps to reduce the risk of a stroke or heart attack. However, warfarin can be difficult to dose as patients respond to it differently according to their genetic makeup. Studies have shown that DNA testing can dramatically improve the safety and effectiveness of warfarin, with estimated savings to the U.S.

The Cincinnati Clinic is the last step in OneSight’s “Cycle of Sight” program that begins with trained volunteers screening over 26,000 students in more than 100 area schools. Students with visual and financial need are referred to the Clinic for a full eye exam with a licensed optometrist.

For first time in 107 years, P&G uses its name as a brand

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Procter & Gamble may have sold its PUR water filter, but it is retaining a business that makes water safe to drink in the third world, and giving the P&G name to that product.

The Procter & Gamble Company reaffirmed its commitment to its Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program following the announcement of the Company’s intention to divest its PUR Water Filtration business to Helen of Troy Limited.

P&G and partners will begin use of the new "P&G Purifier of Water" packets in the next 6-12 months.

The water filter sale will not include the water purification technology that enables the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, as announced Tuesday.

“P&G remains committed to the life-saving work we do through our Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program to provide clean drinking water to countries throughout the world,” said P&G Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Bob McDonald.
