Beech Acres has November parenting workshop: Understanding Your Child's Typical Development

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Beech Acres Parenting Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting parents and caregivers in raising children who thrive, is hosting its As My Child Grows: Understanding Your Child’s Typical Development and Behavior parenting workshop Tuesday, November 13 (in its Anderson campus) and Thursday, November 29 (on its West campus).

It is common for parents to ask the question, “Is this normal?” They may compare their child’s growth and development to others, or have read all the articles but still are not sure what to do. Attendees will learn to identify age-appropriate or ‘normal’ developmental tasks and ways to encourage and support the various stages of their child’s growth from birth to pre-adolescence.

Cost is $15 and pre-registration is required at www.beechacres.org/workshops or by calling Beech Acres Parenting Center at 513-231-6630.

Gateway Has a Scholarship for You: Apply Now

Edgewood, Ky. (Oct. 22, 2012) – Do you want to go to college but think you cannot afford it? Try going on a scholarship. Gateway Community and Technical College offers 32 different categories of scholarships. The time to apply starts now.

“Students often don’t apply because they think their grade point average has to be 4.0 to receive a scholarship. That isn’t the case,” said Will Bradley, Gateway coordinator of financial aid and scholarships. “Eligibility requirements vary by category, and being a straight-A student is not necessarily required. We have scholarships available for single parents, minority students, and students with a 2.0 average who show academic promise."

Bradley said Gateway has general scholarships available for students in any field, but some are dedicated to specific disciplines, such as advanced manufacturing, electrical technology, computer-assisted drafting and design, education, nursing and allied health.
