Fountain Square Ice Rink opens Wednesday

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Tis the season to make memories with your friends, family and loved ones at the U.S. Bank Ice Rink on Fountain Square. Thanks to the support of U.S. Bank, 3CDC will be officially opening the Rink for its fourth season on Wednesday, November 24, at 10am and will be open for skating until February 20. The U.S. Bank Ice Rink covers more than 7,000 square feet of the Fountain Square plaza, comfortably holding 225 skaters and is similar in size to the ice rink at Rockefeller Center in New York City.  To celebrate the first night of action, join us for Rock-N-Skate, Wednesday, November 24, from 5pm to 10pm.  Wildly popular & highly entertaining party band the Naked Karate Girls take the stage at 6pm to keep the crowd rockin’.

Turkey bowl kicks off week long festivities on Fountain Square

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Turkey Day is upon us and what better way to prepare than bowling frozen turkeys!! This Tuesday, November 23, the fourth annual Turkey Bowl presented by Cincinnati Bell will be the buzz on Fountain Square at noon. Dozens come from across the city to see the U.S. Bank Ice Rink transformed into a bowling alley for these fine gobblers.

To participate in this crazy event bring two non-perishable food items* or $5 cash donation to the ice rink at 11:30am.  The person who knocks down the most pins in three throws will win $50 cash, a DVD of the classic “Turkeys Away” episode of WKRP in Cincinnati and a trophy.  In addition, Cincinnati Bell's "Everything Faster" street team will be on site with games and speed The Turkey Bowl not only provides lots of laughter, but supports a very good cause! All food and cash will be donated to the Jimmy Heath House located on Odeon St.

Catch the glow of Balluminaria

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - It's an annual event for the entire family. Balluminaria 2010 will light up the sky on Saturday, November 20. The hot-air balloon glow is around Mirror Lake in Eden Park. More than a dozen ballons are lit for this event. Enjoy carolers and musicians, balloon twisters, Santa Claus, hot chocolate, roasted almonds and much more! Balluminaria runs from 4-6pm.

CINCINNATI, OH (Fox19)– Due to popular demand, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park has extended its run of THE SECOND CITY DOES CINCINNATI: PRIDE AND PORKOPOLIS until Sunday, January 9.

 Famous for their side-splitting sketch comedy and equally famous alumni, the world’s premier comedy company, has created an original no-holds-barred revue about all things Cincinnati. Following the two-act revue about Cincinnati, the Tuesday through Friday shows will include a special segment of improvisation that includes a mix of games and scenes based completely on suggestions from the audience.

Prices for THE SECOND CITY DOES CINCINNATI: PRIDE AND PORKOPOLIS range from $30-$67, depending on day and seat location.

Thanksgiving on the Ohio Frontier

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - See what life was like over 200 years ago with historical reenactments during Thanksgiving on the Ohio Frontier at Shawnee Lookout on Saturday, November 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Interpreters with the Society of Northwest Longhunters will reenact the first Thanksgiving between early European settlers, Shawnee Native Americans and military personnel.  Special exchanges between settler and Native Americans occur at the top of each hour and samples of period fare will be available for tasting from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. inside the Shawnee Lookout Log Cabin.  

This program is free and open to the public.  Shawnee Lookout is located at 2008 Lawrenceburg Road in Miami Township.  A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10.00 annual; $2.00 daily) is required to enter the parks.  For additional information, please visit GreatParks.org or call (513) 521-PARK (7275).
