Life-sized wax figure of President Taft on display this weekend

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - On the 100th anniversary of leaving office, President William Howard Taft, in collaboration with Madame Tussauds Washington DC, the National Park Service, Friends of the William Howard Taft Birthplace and the Taft Museum of Art, will pay a brief visit to his birthplace and the site of brother’s home, the Taft Museum of Art.

On Friday April 5th and Saturday April 6th from 9 am – 4:15 pm, visitors will be able to stand next to, put their arms around and interact with a life size wax figure of President Taft at William Howard Taft National Historic site. The wax figure is part of the Madame Tussauds Presidents gallery that displays all forty-four US Presidents.

 Admission is always free to William Howard Taft National Historic Site and the Taft Museum of Art on Sunday April 7.    

Gateway Targets Adult Learners with Fairs April 18 and 30

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) – Gateway Community and Technical College will host Adult Learner Fairs April 18 and 30 at two locations to offer enrollment and financial aid information tailored for non-traditional students interested in attending college.

The April 18 fair will take place at the college’s Urban Center, 525 Scott Blvd., Covington, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  The April 30 fair will occur at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing on the Boone Campus at 500 Technology Way, Florence, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Gateway representatives will be on hand at each location to answer questions about admissions, financial aid, academic programs and career-oriented degrees, campus locations, transportation and student services. Representatives from the local adult education program will be on hand to provide information about the GED and the test changes coming in January 2014.

Cincinnati to host Homeschool Convention

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Many parents today are choosing to homeschool their children rather than have them attend classes in a traditional setting.

Cincinnati is once again hosting the Midwest Homeschool Convention at the Duke Energy Center.

This is the fifth consecutive year for the convention which is being held April 4- 6. The three-day event is expected to attract more than 15,000 attendees.

The weekend will feature several exhibits and special guest speakers including Ron Paul, Dick Morris, Tim Hawkins and Gianna Jessen.

The convention is open to the public with individual admission cost starting at $40. Tickets for Ron Paul’s keynote at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 must be bought separately with cost starting at $6. Attendees can register on site or online.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Come join us at the Green Township Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, for a special after-hours program for families with members on the autism spectrum.

This open house event is designed to provide an opportunity for a low stress visit to the Library to explore books, activities, educational resources, and programs that meet the special needs of families with ASD. Representatives from the University of Cincinnati University for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and Cincinnati Center for Autism will be available to talk about the resources and programs they offer to families.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Monster trucks are rolling onto U.S. Bank Arena the weekend of April 5

Monster Jam is returning with the three main fan-favorite elements; the pit party, racing and freestyle.

The 2013 show will feature some of the most popular monster trucks ever assembled to compete at U.S. Bank Arena, including Grave Digger, Advance Auto Parts Grinder℠, Lucas Oil Crusador, Black Stallion, Iron Warrier and Crushstation, among others.

There will be a Party in the Pits on Saturday, April 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. where fans will have the opportunity to get a view of the trucks up-close and meet the drivers of the 10,000-pound behemoth monster trucks. Pit Passes are FREE at Participating Taco Bell locations or can be purchased for $10 online at www.ticketmaster.com, at U.S. Bank Arena box office or by phone at 800.745.3000.  A ticket for the April 6, 2 p.m. show is required with a Pit Pass for entry.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati will end its 88th MainStage Season with “Disney’s Cinderella KIDS.”

The production directed and choreographed by Jay Goodlett, music and lyrics by Mack David, Al Hoffman and Jerry Livingston, book adapted and additional lyrics by Marcy Heisler, music adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle, based on the screenplay by Ken Anderson and Homer Brightman.
