Tickets on sale for Monster Jam at U.S. Bank Arena

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Monster trucks are rolling onto U.S. Bank Arena the weekend of April 5

Monster Jam is returning with the three main fan-favorite elements; the pit party, racing and freestyle.

The 2013 show will feature some of the most popular monster trucks ever assembled to compete at U.S. Bank Arena, including Grave Digger, Advance Auto Parts Grinder℠, Lucas Oil Crusador, Black Stallion, Iron Warrier and Crushstation, among others.

There will be a Party in the Pits on Saturday, April 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. where fans will have the opportunity to get a view of the trucks up-close and meet the drivers of the 10,000-pound behemoth monster trucks. Pit Passes are FREE at Participating Taco Bell locations or can be purchased for $10 online at www.ticketmaster.com, at U.S. Bank Arena box office or by phone at 800.745.3000.  A ticket for the April 6, 2 p.m. show is required with a Pit Pass for entry.

Author Alexander McCall Smith visits Main Library April 6

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Alexander McCall Smith, one of the world’s most prolific and most popular authors, will visit the Main Library at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the Reading Garden Lounge.

McCall Smith's career has been a varied one: for many years he was a professor of medical law and worked in universities in the United Kingdom and abroad. Then, after the publication of his highly successful No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, which has sold over 20 million copies, he devoted his time to the writing of fiction and has seen his various series of books translated into over 40 languages and become bestsellers throughout the world.

His other four series are the Scotland Street novels, first published as a serial novel in The Scotsman, the Sunday Philosophy Club series featuring amateur sleuth Isabel Dalhousie, the Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld series, and the Corduroy Mansions novels.

Stop the Violence Fish Fry fundraiser on Saturday

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The community is coming together to support the Stop the Violence campaign.

A fish/chicken fry fundraiser is set for Saturday, March 16 from Noon - 6pm at the Lincoln Rec Center on Linn Street.

The events will take place from noon to 6 pm with music, a moon walk, clowns and praise dancing for all to enjoy.

All dinners are 5 dollars and all proceeds go to Crime Stoppers.

Lincoln Recreation is located at 1027 Linn Street.

Gateway, McHale's Jointly Showcase Downtown Covington Expansion

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19)  — Gateway Community and Technical College and McHale’s Events and Catering are opening the doors to their new facilities at Odd Fellows Hall with a public reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at The Grand/Historic Odd Fellows Hall.

The event marks the kick-off of Gateway’s new Instructional Design and Learning (IDL) Technology associate degree program, the first of its kind in the nation. Guests will be able to visit the building’s fourth floor for an introduction to IDL as well as the college’s Visual Communications program, the Center for eLearning, and a tour of the innovative learning environment. These related disciplines intersect in preparing students for high-wage, high-demand jobs in information management fields.
