Cincinnati Comic Expo to host Captain America artists | Events
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The highly anticipated Hollywood blockbuster Captain America comes to theatres nationwide July 22 at midnight. Captain America would not be known and where it is today if it was not for the comic book stories over the last 71 years. The Cincinnati Comic Expo in September will host five artists and illustrators who have done work on the Captain America comic book series.
The 2011 Cincinnati Comic Expo will feature Allen Bellman, Jim Steranko, Jackson “Butch” Guice, Elizabeth and Mitchell Breitweiser. Allen Bellman did artwork in Captain America issues throughout the 1940’s. Jim Steranko was known for his work on the Captain America in 1969. “Butch” Guice, who currently lives in Reading, Ohio, has been doing work for the comic over the last 4 years. Husband and wife artists, Mitch and Elizabeth Breitweiser, have been doing Captain America work since 2008.
These artists are just a tip of the talent that will be on display at the 2011 Cincinnati Comic Expo. The above mentioned artists will be Cincinnati’s local tie with anything Captain America. It will be very rare to have this span of history covered for a single comic character. The Expo will host a panel discussion during the show with the artists and people can hear firsthand the progression and history of the Captain America character.
The 2011 Cincinnati Comic Expo will be held on September 17, at the Duke Energy Convention Center. The show will run from 10:00am to 5:30pm. Admission is $10 and children under 10 are free with a paying adult. There will be comics, graphic novels, cards, toys, and a costume contest. The public is invited to check out www.cincinnaticomicexpo.com to purchase tickets, details, and updates.
The Cincinnati Comic Expo was established in 2010 to provide an annual show celebrating all periods and genres of pop culture with an emphasis on comics.
