Free concert by The Zapp Band at Washington Park | Events
OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19) - Funk legends and Cincinnati-area natives, The Zapp Band, originally from Hamilton, are giving a free concert on Friday in Over-the Rhine.
The Zapp Band will perform at the newly renovated Washington Park as a part of Friday Flow.
In addition to the legendary Zapp Band, the Friday Flow event will include one more very special guest. Vaughn Anthony, better known as the brother of John Legend, is considered by many to be one of R&B’s biggest rising stars.
Long before T-Pain introduced the music scene to the world of auto tune, The Zapp Band was cranking out hits with the help of their trademark “talk box”. The Zapp Band (also known as “Zapp” or “Zapp & Roger”) spent much of the 1980s dominating the charts with hits like “More Bounce to the Ounce”, “Dance Floor” and “Computer Love”. Throughout the years, The Zapp Band has survived both serious controversy and devastating loss, but they never stopped making music.
Since reuniting in the early 2000s, their music continues to influence new generations around the world.
Friday Flow fans will also be treated to performances from, Muzik Therapy and DJ’s from Selecta’s Choice. Mahogany’s will also be the in the park, serving of up some of their delicious soul food combinations.
This free show begins at 7 p.m. and everyone is welcome.
