Winners of first annual YMCA SPLASH awards announced | Events
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati recently honored Claudia and Chuck Multer of Hamilton for their 42 plus years of volunteer service to the Y competitive swim teams.
Over 250 people gathered at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza on May 5 for the first annual SPLASH awards, recognizing all stars in and behind the scenes of the Ys competitive swim programs.
Charlie Fry, 18, a senior at Sycamore High School, won the 2013 Character Award; he has been an eight-year-member of the Blue Ash YMCA swim team. In his nomination for the award, Fry was recognized for showing a high level of commitment to his team, and helping others stay positive.
Jonathan Rutter, 16, from the Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA was named Swimmer of the Year for outstanding performances throughout the recent swim season.
Other swim team winners included Madeline Hart (M.E. Lyons Y) for 10 and Under Female Performance of the Year; Brooks Blackert (M.E. Lyons Y) was named the winner of the 10 and Under Male Performance of the Year category. Kara Heckmuller (Clippard Y) and Dan Cashell (Powel Crosley, Jr. Y) were named 11 and 12-year-old Swim Performers of the Year. The 13 and 14-year-old Performance of the Year awards went to Payton Keener (Powel Crosley, Jr. Y) and Jimmy Kelley (M.E. Lyons Y). The 15 and Over Performance of the Year winners were Morgan Contino (M.E. Lyons Y) and Jonathan Rutter (Powel Crosley, Jr. Y).
Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA swim coach Megan Feichtner was named Coach of the Year. Female Relay Performance awards were presented to Chloe Dunseath, Caroline Leyes, Jordyn Torrens, and Meredith Moellering from M.E. Lyons YMCA.
The Blue Ash team of Andrew Albert, Colin Foos, Charlie Fry, and Eric Scott were named winners of the male Relay Performance of the Year. Breakout Performer of the Year awards were presented to 15-year-old Amanda Deller from Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA and 17-year-old Grant Wethington from the M.E. Lyons YMCA. The Perseverance Award went to 13-year-old Carson Burt with the Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA team. Jon Saxton from the M.E. Lyons YMCA was named 2013 Volunteer of the Year.
