EVANSTON (FOX19) -- Nearly naked students will run a mile on Thursday to raise money for the Xavier University interfaith Guatemala medical mission trip.
Despite temperature projections with a low of 37 degrees, students will strip down and run around campus to support twelve pre-professional health students who will be traveling to a small village in Guatemala to provide healthcare and medication.
Registration for the annual ‘Nearly Naked Mile’ starts at 7 p.m. and the race will begin at 8 p.m. in front of the Gallagher Student Center, continue up the Academic Mall and back down to the intramural fields.
After rounding the Residential Mall, runners will cross the finish line where they began, in front of Gallagher. More modest students can dress up for the event.
Prizes are awarded for the best costumes and the top finishers for men and women.
This is the fifth year that the run will raise money to send students on a medical mission trip.
