Gateway to Host International Conference on the Future of Manufacturing

COVINGTON, KY (September 13, 2012) – Gateway Community and Technical College and the Trans-Atlantic Technology and Training Alliance (TA3) will host an international conference on “The Future of Manufacturing: Implications for Education and Training.”

The conference, to be held Oct. 1-2 at Covington’s Embassy Suites hotel,  is expected to attract participants from eight U.S. states and five European countries, including Denmark, Finland, Germany, Northern Ireland, and Spain. Internationally known speakers will examine emerging  trends in manufacturing production, technology, employment and the education required for manufacturing economies to be competitive and sustainable.

Klein announced that SoMoLend is holding its first business competition, SoMoLaunch.

Registration for the SoMoLaunch Business Competition is open now, and will close September 30. Applicants will be evaluated based on their business model.

Covington, Ky. (Aug. 21, 2012) – Gateway Community and Technical College offers career and transfer education to prepare people for jobs in all of the region’s fastest-growing and highest-paying fields, and Gateway is accepting students now for fall terms that begin Sept. 10, Sept. 17, and Oct. 10.

According to a recently released report on the job outlook for 2020 in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region, 90 percent of the jobs paying above $33,130 a year will require some combination of post-secondary education, on-the-job training, and/or more than a year’s work experience.

The report, produced in collaboration by Vision 2015 and Agenda 360, shows that healthcare, education, business, finance and technology are the top five fastest-growing and best-paying fields for the future, with production occupations in the sixth spot.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Learn about small business online resources (including how to access full-text business plans, demographic data, competitor listings and even potential customer lists) with the Entrepreneur Express series at the Main Library of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.

Also in attendance will be a SCORE counselor to assist you with your practical questions on starting and running a small business. SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship.

These informal sessions will last 45-60 minutes. Registration is required.

Panera Bread coming to Fountain Square

Panera Bread coming to Fountain Square

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Panera Bread has signed a retail lease agreement for space on Fountain Square.

The bakery-cafe will be located in the northwest portion of Fifth Third Center at the corner of Vine and Sixth Streets, the space formerly occupied by Arby's.

The new 4,985-square-foot space will employ about 65 full- and part-time associates and offer handcrafted and freshly-baked artisan breads, bagels, pastries and specialty cafe menu items.  Additionally, it will feature the traditional amenities of Panera Bread, including a fireplace, free WiFi and a full-service catering program with online ordering available at www.PaneraCatering.com

The grand opening is planned for October 2012. This is the 20th Panera location in Greater Cincinnati.

New Pet Store to open in OTR this week

OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19) - Another new business will open its doors in Over-the-Rhine this Friday, June 29, in conjunction with Final Friday.

The Grand Opening Celebration, from 6-9 p.m., will feature food and wine tasting and live music by Wild Mountain Berries.

Pet Wants, at 1409 Vine Street, is a second location for owners Michele Hobbs and Amanda Broughton. The first location, at Findlay Market, opened in 2010. Pet Wants features house-made wet/raw/frozen food for pets, made fresh once a month in Ohio, from its own gluten-free formulas. Its formulas do not use corn, wheat, soy or animal by-products of any kind. Free delivery is available throughout the tri-state.

The new Pet Wants Kitchen on Vine Street will cater to dogs who want to “dine-in”. The front porch motif was installed by local artist Stacey Vallerie and will be used for pet owners who want to order off a special dine-in menu for their pets.
