CINCINNATI (FOX19)-  The city’s chief building official will update council members on last Friday’s casino accident at the Major Transportation and Infrastructure Projects Subcommittee meeting Tuesday morning at 10:30.  Amit Ghosh will describe what the city is asking the project’s construction managers and engineers to do in the wake of the accident, and discuss the impact on the casino construction schedule.

Michael Moore, Director of the Department of Transportation and Engineering, will provide an update on the funding and schedule for I-75 construction. Earlier this month, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced delays of up to 14 years in the schedule for reconstruction of I-75 through the city because of funding shortfalls.

“The rebuild of I-75 will have a profound impact on the city’s efforts to build a globally-competitive local economy,” said Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls, who chairs the subcommittee. “We have been working since 2008 to ensure that the project captures the economic development opportunities for the neighborhoods that line the corridor. The delay is obviously disappointing and requires that we re-think our transportation funding system and how we set priorities.”

The  subcommittee will also take up a report on implementation of the city’s bike plan, and briefly discuss casino area infrastructure design issues.

The meeting is in Committee Room B, Room 312, City Hall, 801 Plum Street, Downtown.
