Come experience Holiday Dazzle Days at the Main Library Dec. 1, Dec. 8, and Dec. 15 | Arts & Culture
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Tis the season to be jolly! So why not make a visit to the Main Library part of your downtown holiday tradition? Whether you are 2 or 92, there’s something for all ages. Bring your entire family to enjoy all the excitement surrounding “Dazzle Days” during the first three Saturdays in December. From 1-4 p.m., there will be lively music and interactive performances all in the spirit of the season presented by popular entertainers in the Reading Garden Lounge.
On Dec. 1, the musical performances by Grammy nominee Zak Morgan at 1 p.m. and College-Conservatory Music Voice Instructor Will Reed at 3 p.m. will add holiday cheer to your afternoon. In between performances, make ’n take a craft together as a family or watch your kids’ faces light up as they create their own holiday mementos.
Known for their stupendous shows, The Madcap Puppet Theatre’s tremendous puppets will perform at 2 p.m. Dec. 8. Visit with costume storybook characters Scuffy the Tug Boat, Poky Little Puppy and Saggy Baggy Elephant based on the Little Golden Books theme at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Pulling out all the stops for his holiday performance at 2 p.m. Dec. 15, award-winning composer and singer David Kisor never disappoints. In between performances, make ’n take a craft together as a family or watch your kids’ faces light up as they create their own holiday mementos. Visit with the Library’s own mascots Rufus the Reading Dog and Red the Library Card at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

- The Library’s Storybook Trees – A “tree- rific” tradition at the Main Library, bring your camera and take your picture in front of these magnificent trees featuring ornaments symbolizing storybook characters hand-made by the Federated Garden Clubs of Cincinnati and Vicinity. Each year new ornaments are added to both trees. (On view at the Main Library through Jan. 2 in the Reading Garden Lounge-1st floor atrium & the Children’s Learning Center)
- Golden Legacy: Original Art from 65 Years of Golden Books – See an extensive selection of original art from American publishing’s best-loved picture–book series, Little Golden Books. Organized by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature in Abilene, Texas. (Atrium of the Main Library through Feb. 21)
- A Wonderland of Fairytales in the Peter G. Thomson Collection – Revisit the childhood wonders of “Cinderella,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” “The Night Before Christmas” and other 1880s books published by Peter G. Thomson at his Race Street printing shop. (Joseph S. Stern, Jr. Cincinnati Room through Feb. 17)
