VH1's Celebrity Rehab star to appear at downtown fundraiser

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Local Celebrity Robert Hatcher will host a "Birthday Bash" featuring Frankie from VH1's Celebrity Rehab, BET's Frankie and Neffie and Keshia Cole "The Way it is".

A host of surprise celebrities will be present for the fundraiser. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Alzheimer's association of Cincinnati. Robert Hatcher is no stranger to the affects of Alzheimer's. His grandfather suffered with the disease until his death. The Alzheimer's association was there when the family needed them.

After appearing on two of the world's number one shows back to back, ( American Idol & Americas Got Talent) Robert Hatcher has almost completed his first CD project. His first single was available nation wide on itunes in March. In the two years since appearing on American Idol & Americas Got Talent, Robert has had the opportunity to share the stage with mega stars and toured in over 40 states in the U.S.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is honoring the American Diabetes Association during a week-long blood drive Monday, June 20 through Friday, June 25. Donors are invited to make a lifesaving blood donation at any Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Center. If at least 30 donors participate, Hoxworth Blood Center will send one area child to Camp Joy, the American Diabetes Summer Camp.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - First Financial officially announced the site of the company’s new corporate headquarters in Cincinnati.  Located at 255 East Fifth Street, this prominent building is in the heart of the downtown central business district and is currently known as Chemed Center.

Make-A-Wish hosts Walk for Wishes

The Eighth Annual Walk for Wishes took place at Sawyer Point on Saturday, raising funds for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Walk for Wishes is a family-friendly walk, designed to raise money to grant the wishes of children battling life-threatening medical conditions. The goal of the walk was $70,500.

The Southern Ohio Region of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana has fulfilled the individual wishes of 1,231 local children since it was founded in 1998.

First-time council candidate leads LEAD's straw poll

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - In the first straw poll of the current campaign season, Democratic first-time candidate P.G. Sittenfeld reports he emerged as the winner at Thursday night's last night's LEAD PAC City Council forum. 

Sittenfeld received the largest number of votes from the audience at Great American Ballpark, edging out a field of candidates in attendance that included incumbents Leslie Ghiz, Wayne Lippert, Amy Murray, and Charlie Winburn, and challengers Kevin Flynn, Catherine Smith Mills, and Jason Riveiro.

“I’m encouraged by the enthusiastic response we received,” Sittenfeld said. “LEAD PAC values fiscal responsibility, and I believe our elected officials can’t be too careful with taxpayer dollars.”

LEAD PAC was founded by former NFL player and St. Xavier High School football star Rocky Boiman. The group, based in Cincinnati, has helped elect county commissioners, Congressmen, and U.S.

Six students win scholarships for performing arts talents

Six students win scholarships for performing arts talents

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A local company will honor high school arts students Wednesday at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Over-the-Rhine.

Training Guidance Group, a local company that focuses on building motivation and team work within companies, is awarding scholarships to several recent area high school grads for their outstanding work and dedication to the arts during their high school careers. 

Many of the staff at TGG were (or still are) involved in the arts and feel that these experiences have allowed them to become better leaders later in life.  TGG also says the amount of recognition and scholarship funds available to these students is small in comparison to those in sports and other activities, so they started a way to give back to the community and recognize these students with the Training Guidance Group Performing Arts Scholarship.
