Exhibit celebrates work of long-time Shillito's fashion illustrator

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati Museum Center, current home to the blockbuster exhibit, Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt welcomes its second powerful fashionista to the building this summer.

In partnership with Downtown's Landor Associates, "Inspired by Anne" honors the work of Anne Wainscott, fashion illustrator for Shillito’s Department Store and the Cincinnati Enquirer for nearly five decades.

The exhibit, celebrating Wainscott, who is 94 and lives in Covington, will open on Saturday, July 16 in the South Gallery, located in the Cincinnati History Museum.

"Inspired by Anne" originally appeared inside Landor’s lobby and as a fashion window on Race Street from April to July in 2010, opening during Cincinnati’s first ever Fashion Week.

Cincinnati City Council passes taxi cab reform

Cincinnati City Council passed an ordinance on Wednesday that would allow people to hail a taxi in the city.

The ordinance was submitted by Councilman Wendell Young. Previously, taxis weren't allowed to be hailed in the city, and could only be reached if they were called or if they were parked in taxi stands.

"To me, these were obvious and necessary reforms to our city's taxicab policy—and ones that needed to be implemented immediately," said Young. "I believe these changes will make the taxicab system in Cincinnati operate more effectively and efficiently, for both those people looking for taxis and those driving them."

The ordinance was passed in a Tuesday meeting of the Government Operations Committee, before heading to full council on Wednesday. The ordinance also requires that the driver's identification information be clearly displayed in the taxicab.

Need for public restrooms sparks protest in OTR

Need for public restrooms sparks protest in OTR

Greater Cincinnati's Homeless Coalition created a big stink in Over-The-Rhine Tuesday.

They're accusing 3CDC of going back on promises to replace the public bathrooms that had been torn out as part of the massive renovation of Washington Park.

The Coalition says 3CDC promised publicly months ago that they'd put Port-O-Lets in. But, now claim the developer is refusing to help at all.

It's a high-traffic area used by lots of folks this time of the year. And now, people who live in the area are complaining about feces in the streets.

Maybe as parents, you once read to your children the book, Everyone Poops?

The Coalition staged a dramatic presentation, complete with seven toilets, hoping to drive home the point that everyone does it. So why not let the homeless and folks who live in that Over-The-Rhine neighborhood do it with some dignity?
